Director, FILMMAKER and PHOTOGRAPHER

Nicholas Hughff is a cinematographer, photographer and director. Specialising in working with contemporary artists around Europe and the US.

His ability to empathise with those he works with, transforms into his work, portraying his subjects with natural, untainted transparency whilst staying true to an overall narrative.

His style revolves around how comfortable his subject, and his team are working around him. The mood and energy generated from working with Nick reflects in the final outcome.

RUSSELL YOUNG - DREAMLAND

Russell Young's work is recognised globally in a myriad of different galleries and settings. His notoriety in the format of screen printing is second only to the great Andy Warhol, only Russell's work has a very noticeable difference. Diamond Dust. We had the privilege in following him through Brooklyn, London and Los Angeles, shooting whilst we go to create him something truly special for his upcoming show, 'Dreamland'. The video was shown in the Overfinch showroom in Cheshire at a VIP event, as well as in Maddox Gallery Berkeley Street in Mayfair in-front of a very special audience.

COOPER - WILDLIFE

Cooper, a neo-contemporary sensation from Indiana in the USA, was invited by Maddox to take up residency for 3 weeks in the alpine paradise that is Gstaad, Switzerland. We had the privilege of watching him create on the second floor of Maddox Gallery, as well as follow him around for some typical summer scenes around the area. The opening drone shot of this video resulted in someone purchasing the exact same work of art featured as the drone flys over

ROSS MUIR - THE BRIDGE HOME

Out of the ashes comes the phoenix. Ross Muir has woven a rich tapestry of a life. Hailing from Glasgow, from a young age Ross struggled with addiction, gangs and crime. That is until he found his outlet through art. Since the success of his ‘Van Golf’ which became a meme online, he’s found great success in the contemporary art scene. I had the privilage to head up to Glasgow and create this short film for his exhibition, ‘The Bridge Home’. The Bridge Home was hosted by Maddox Gallery on Westbourne Grove

Nick grindroD - slide

Nick Grindrod, a native Yorkshireman with undeniable craftsmanship creates his abstract work with utmost precision. His craft has been honed over time, originally emerging when he was restoring period properties and sign writing in Sheffield. His experience and precision has now been translated into his contemporary work. Nick’s show ‘Slide’ was exhibited in Maddox Gallery, Gstaad.

dairo vargas - recall

Colombian born artist Dairo Vargas creates abstract artwork which allows the mind to fill in the blanks. These pieces guide your mind, much like a Rorschach pattern. I for one see long exposure photographs of dancers in a hall, but everyone sees something slightly different. I headed to brixton to capture this short piece with Dairo.

the connor brothers - once we were kings

Mysterious artist duo ‘The Connors Brothers’ created a narrative for their up and coming show in the Natural History Museum. I was tasked to reverse engineer the film making process and work backwards, filling in the blanks as I could with stock footage. Their humour paired with matching visuals made for an entertaining sight.
